This is how it all started…
The Esteem Awards celebrate the changemakers, trailblazers, and community champions who are making a real difference in the lives of African American, BIPOC, LGBTQ+ communities and our allies. Founded in 2007, the awards shine a spotlight on individuals, organizations, and allies whose leadership, service, creativity, and advocacy inspire positive change.
Since its inception, the Esteem Awards have recognized and honored more than 300 individuals and organizations whose work has strengthened communities, advanced equity, and created lasting social impact.
Each year, the Esteem Awards celebrate outstanding achievements across a wide range of fields, including community service, healthcare, business, education, media, the arts, and social justice. Award categories include:
- Outstanding Service (Male, Female, and Transgender)
- Future Leaders
- Outstanding Healthcare Professional
- Artistic Expression
- Social Services/Community-Based Organization
- Institutional Awards
- Special Recognition Awards
From emerging leaders to lifelong advocates, these awards recognize those who are breaking barriers, uplifting others, and creating meaningful change in their communities.
More than just an awards ceremony, the Esteem Awards are a vibrant celebration of excellence, resilience, and achievement. They bring together leaders, professionals, artists, activists, and supporters to honor accomplishments, build meaningful connections, and inspire future generations.
Whether recognizing a dedicated community volunteer, an innovative entrepreneur, a talented artist, a healthcare professional, or an organization driving social change, the Esteem Awards showcase the power of service, leadership, and vision to transform lives and strengthen communities. For nearly two decades, the Esteem Awards have served as a platform for celebrating those whose contributions often go unrecognized but whose impact is felt far and wide.
